It is our commitment to provide your children with a rainbow of options to fuel their busy bodies. Children will be allowed to eat as much of any item, regardless of whether or not they are willing to try the other options. It is our job to provide a variety of acceptable options at designated times, and it is a child’s job to explore with textures and tastes when they are ready.
All food and milk is organic, unless indicated otherwise or unless supply issues render it exceptionally difficult to obtain a typical product. Milk is provided by Smith Brothers Farms and will be served with lunch. You may choose between 1% cow’s milk or oat milk in the preschool. Whole milk will be provided in our infant/toddler classroom.
Breakfast is available but will not be cooked on site daily. If your child needs breakfast at school for any reason, they are always welcome to a granola bar and applesauce or cereal and milk. This will be available every day with no time cut off.
Our menu is plant-heavy but not plant-based. Alternatives will be listed and provided for any child with dairy sensitivities or for families who prefer a plant-based lifestyle. Alternatives will be denoted (v.) Alternatives will also be provided for nut allergies (n.). We are happy to work with any other dietary preferences but you will need to provide alternatives.
The base of our menu repeats monthly to avoid clutter and waste, and to streamline food acquisition processes. Please allow for and expect substitutions for seasonal and garden fruits and vegetables.
Disclaimer: A few of our menu items come with known choking risk (popcorn, dried fruits, etc.) We defer to the American Association of Pediatrics to determine at what ages these should be offered. Age-appropriate and comparable substitutes will be offered to our younger classmates.
Parents often want to know what their child’s day will look like. Children thrive off of routine and predictability. While remaining constantly flexible to allow for individual needs, we adhere to a sketch for the day. “Sketch” rather than “schedule“ more accurately describes how a day with children should look. The lines and general idea exist daily, but there is space to erase and redraw when the children’s needs demand so.
