"Compassion for animals is intimately associated with goodness of character." -Arthur Schopenhauer
Beyond the enjoyment of having fun animals to observe, we model responsibility, empathy, and gentleness by caring for these school friends.
Odette was rescued from a reptile shelter at the age of three by LeighAnn. She was kept in poor conditions and had to have surgery to correct a bowel issue shortly before she was adopted She is an extra-friendly and gentle dragon whose favorite activities consist of bath time, eating salad, going EVERYWHERE with her humans, and snuggling on the couch before her evening sleep.
Cal was adopted by Renee and her husband, Kyle, at the age of five. He is a very friendly and calm dragon whose favorite activities consist of cuddles on the couch, basking in the heat, and bath time. He is currently working on changing his feedings to salads and live crickets because he is a thick boy.
Artemis is a two-year-old leopard gecko with a sweet smile and a passion for hunting crickets. We acquired her via a family who did not have adequate time for her care. Her favorite activities are hanging in her wet hide, going on shoulder rides, and introducing herself with a lick.
Hamlet is one of three guinea pig brothers who came to us from a local family who was moving overseas. He is our friendliest and cuddliest pig by far. He enjoys big morning salads, cherries, and chasing his brothers away from the shared water bottle.
Frances is the second brother of our piggy trio who
lives in the school age room. He likes being held, chasing his brothers around the cage, and making loud squeaks to remind his humans that he wants more attention and food. Important to note: Frances can do without zucchini.
This very beautiful fairy king is our grumpy boy. He is not particularly interested in pets or being captured for time outside the cage, but is gentle nonetheless. He eats constantly and puts on his cutest moves while doing so to ensure that the buffet is always available. He loves daytime snoozes and occasionally chiming in with Frances’s squealing ditties.
Bio coming soon!
Disclaimer: Our reptiles are observational in nature and will not be handled by the children. We will allow children to aid in prepping their food or with other non-contact care. Everyone is up to date on veterinarian care and has tested negative for parasites and salmonella, but out of an abundance of caution, adults will handle the reptiles outside of center hours. Any changes to classroom animals will come with a notification in writing.
